C2-Level Vocabulary

C2-Level Idioms
- The crème de la crème – The best of the best.
Example: She was accepted into the crème de la crème of art schools.
- Cut to the chase – Get to the point without wasting time.

- Throw caution to the wind – Take a risk without worrying about the consequences.

- By the skin of your teeth – Barely managing to achieve something.

- Walk a tightrope – Be in a situation that requires careful balance.

C2-Level Phrases
- Set the tone – To establish a particular mood or character. Example: The keynote speaker’s inspiring speech set the tone for the entire conference.
- In the grand scheme of things – Considering the bigger picture. Example: In the grand scheme of things, these minor setbacks won’t matter.
- Make a compelling case for – Present an argument in a way that is convincing. Example: She made a compelling case for increasing renewable energy investments.
- The pinnacle of success – The highest point of achievement. Example: Winning the award marked the pinnacle of his career.
- Chart new territory – To explore or undertake something innovative and unprecedented. Example: The research team is charting new territory in cancer treatment.
